So it's only been nine months since I last saw Tinashe, but in the months since she has seen a bit of a resurgence, gaining traction online with "Nasty", the lead single from her new mini album Quantum Baby. It's the follow up to her other mini album that came out last year, BB/ANG3L. I was hoping she would continue with the electronic experimentation she was playing around with on BB/ANG3L, but Quantum Baby is more of a return to her trap heavy brand of R&B. I still enjoyed it though! And she came through with another tour, this time with a stop in nearby Seattle at the Showbox.
Raveena was great as the opener. Unfortunately, I've not managed to keep up with her output since Lucid, but her warm and intimate set here may get me back on top of that. And for Tinashe's set, it was pretty similar to what she brought to the Toronto show earlier this year with the dance crew. Of course she had to cut some tracks to fit in Quantum Baby, which she managed to play almost in its entirety throughout the set. "Thirsty" is probably my favourite cut from it. Also loved hearing "Save Room For Us", which I think is one of her best pop-first tracks. And it was nice to hear Snakehips' "All My Friends" acknowledged, albeit just alongside a montage of fan footage near the end of the set, not actually performed, but that track really does take me back to simpler times.
