Future Islands

Vancouver, BCLet it be said; these guys (Future Islands) rip. Just look up their performance on the Letterman show from back in 2014. I honestly don't know how to describe the way frontman Sam Herring maneuvers on the stage. I think it's beyond the comprehension of a mere mortal man like myself. So in any case, you know I was going to be in attendance for their Vancouver show at the Malkin Bowl in support of their latest record, People Who Aren't There Anymore.
I didn't make it in there in time for the opener, so I can't comment on that. But Sam Herring and company put on a stellar show, the second of actually two back to back nights at the Malkin Bowl. What stood out to me was just how professional and courteous they were. Just really thankful to the audience -- even admitting to feeling under the weather while still managing to put on a great show. They provided small anecdotes before introducing each track in the setlist, which I thought was a nice touch! I can assure you that all in attendance came out of the show with an even greater appreciation for the band. Standouts for me were "Say Goodbye" off their new record and their classics like "Seasons (Waiting On You)".
