Blue Jays at Giants
07.10.24 - 07.11.24
San Francisco, CAFollowing up on the series in Seattle against the Mariners, the Jays headed south to face the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Naturally, I followed them! Especially with the rare opportunity to catch the Jays on the road against a National League team, which only happens every other year against a given opponent.
I attended the second and third games in the series. The Jays lost the first game, which I did not attend, but I'm happy to report they saved the winning for my arrival in town -- they won the second and third games by scores of 10-6 and 5-3, respectively.
Oracle Park has such a cool location, right on the water. Beautiful views of the Bay Area right from inside the park. And with the moderate temperatures San Francisco has during the summer, it makes for a really chill ballpark experience.
Compared to T-Mobile park, I have to say the food options were lacking here. I got chicken tenders and garlic fries during game two. The garlic fries are a staple here, but I wasn't a big fan. And for game three, I got an Italian sausage, but it was kinda pathetic. The ice cream helmet I got was completely loaded up though; it had a waffle glove with cookies and cream inside plus vanilla ice cream, with real chopped up Oreos. Really good but super expensive!
I sat in the bleachers for both games. The most memorable moment came in the second game of the series, when former Blue Jay Matt Chapman hit a homer into my section at the bottom of the ninth. If it went a few feet to the right I might have been able to catch it! I looked up the TV feed of the play afterwards, and you can see me in the crowd!
Of note, I was wearing my Expos Vladimir Guerrero jersey -- got taunted by Giants fans on the way in for game two; one of them just kept yelling "Vladdy" "You're gonna strike out tonight!". How original!
