This was a last minute decision for me -- this was actually a co-headling show, The War On Drugs with The National. I'm not a fan of The National, so I was watching ticket prices up until the day of, knowing that they were having trouble selling out the lower bowl of Vancouver's Rogers Arena (tickets were never released for the upper bowl). Prices did dip low enough for me to scoop up a ticket, just to see The War On Drugs.
They don't really have a recent album out to support this tour (their latest is I Don't Live Here Anymore, which came out in 2021), so the set was a mix of stuff from their whole discography. But honestly, this show was not really fit for an arena. The crowd was very low energy; not sure if the majority were just The National fans (given their recent association with Taylor Swift perhaps) and were just biding their time until they came out. Nonetheless, I think Adam Granduciel and company put in a decent effort. It was just going to be an uphill battle the whole time. I did come out of this with a poster though! A show specific one for this Vancouver date, so it's great to finally get some Vancouver representation in my concert poster collection.
