I don't think you need to be a classic rock head to enjoy this one. Sensory overload for sure, but it's a lot of fun. The imagery is bananas. It may seem nonsensical at face value, but there is definitely a through line of cult and celebrity worship tangled up in here. To compare it to The Wiz, simply because it's another balls to the wall '70s musical I've seen recently — I can comfortably say I was intrigued the whole time, not annoyed.
Watched in IMAX at the Yonge-Dundas Cineplex. 50th anniversary screening. Would love to see more deep cuts like this appear on the IMAX calendar. Stuff I wouldn't have checked out otherwise, or even heard of before.
