The Wind Will Carry Us

Toronto, ONDidn't know anything about Kiarostami going into this. Very impressed by the photography. Beautiful part of the world that I haven't seen much in film. Makes you appreciate your own surroundings a little more, even if radically different, reflecting on the simple beauties of our world. Definitely opened up to me more afterwards, understanding it as a handful of city dwellers relinquishing control, involuntarily slowing things down, at the forgiving mercy of both nature and a more humble way of life.
Watched on 35mm at the TIFF Lightbox. From the Collection series with Cameron Bailey. I felt a little slow to "get" this, but as members of the audience so graciously explained afterwards, the English subtitles were not great, failing to capture the nuances of the conversations here. Especially those between the visitors and the villagers.
