The Devil, Probably

Toronto, ONAs I saw in L'Argent, late career Bresson is a totally different beast. It's easy to point out just how cold this is, but one couldn't be this pessimistic if not coming from a place of genuine concern, or prior faith in mankind. Which is pretty clear if you watch A Man Escaped. And yeah, teenage angst is a universal, generational theme, and I really appreciate how Bresson did not undermine that at all here.Watched on 35mm at the TIFF Lightbox. From the Collection series with Cameron Bailey. Print was in great shape — it was struck in 2010 by Janus Films and acquired by TIFF the following year.
