The Bride!The Bride!

I do think anyone dunking on this is probably going to end up on the wrong side of history. It's stylistically weird enough that it could very well end up garnering a cult following. And with Del Toro's Frankenstein still fresh in our minds, both films can coexist in this world — Frankenstein catering to the fantastical and this to the eccentric. Could have used a bit more gore here though. Jessie Buckley does it all here. Great run she's on right now, following up Hamnet with this. And good to see Christian Bale attaching his name to something interesting before his next David O. Russell movie. Sigh.

Watched in IMAX at Scotiabank Theatre Toronto. This is a very unexpected comparison, but I don't think I've seen this many aspect ratio switches in a movie since Transformers: The Last Knight. Lots of 1.43:1 content. And since this didn't get an IMAX 15/70 release, you're gonna have to hunt down a dual laser IMAX GT if you want to see these 1.43:1 sequences.
