North by Northwest

Toronto, ONHitchcock at his most accessible still goes unfathomably hard. I mentioned it once before when I talked about The Wages of Fear, but this is the kind of timeless film that modern audiences can still eat up if they're willing to give it a try. It moves along like a well-oiled machine, flawlessly setting up multiple large-scale action set pieces throughout its runtime. From a filmmaking perspective, it's calculated and ambitious. And the execution is witty and sexy. What's not to love?Watched on 70mm at the TIFF Lightbox. My first viewing from their Magnificent 70mm programming, running into January. We are getting spoiled this holiday season in Toronto!
