I think Canadian film is actually having a moment? It warms my heart to see our cities getting to play themselves. NTBTSTM is in the spotlight of course, for the Torontonians, but then we have this one here for the Montrealers. And I'll be seeing Blue Heron next week for the west coast vibes. I came of age quite a few years after the 2011-ish indie sleaze era that this one portrays, but even so, you can just tell it's such an honest portrait of what that time meant to those who lived it. In a general sense, it's relatable to anyone who has left home to search for something in a new city. And there's a ton of uniquely Canadian moments here — most of us have probably indeed had a conversation with someone that involved multiple pronunciations of Toronto without even realizing it.

Watched at the Yonge-Dundas Cineplex. Not sure why this wasn't playing wider at more locations. You can do better, Cineplex!
