I think I know what "slow cinema" means now. But I mean that endearingly, because this moves along like a series of intricately framed moving photos, giving each scene the freedom to fully inhale and exhale, and linger a little bit for good measure. I'm guilty of seeing the trailer, seeing a man on a ship, and conjuring up dreams of rounding up the fellas to sail the world à la Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. But it's the total opposite of that kind of buoyant energy, rather it's a takedown of the incredulous greed that has driven colonialism in human history. But you know what they say... what goes around comes around.
