I like this one as a slice of what it means to break free from family, giving yourself the opportunity to follow your own path. And doing so on your own terms, without totally dropping the ball on the people that raised you. The most lighthearted and optimistic of the Naruse films I've seen so far. Some of Hideko Takamine's quips got a good chuckle out of the crowd.
