To reflect on my journey with this one… a torrent in my university days, an early addition to my blu-ray collection, on a plane when I moved from all I had ever known in Ottawa to Vancouver… and now live in concert with Justin Hurwitz here in Toronto, my adopted city. I don't know if I can top this! Genuine chills. Mia's audition gets me every time… to get ambushed by that, WITH an orchestra, was magical. I'll write more about the movie itself some other time, but it's no coincidence it's the one movie that's been with me every step of the way. Can't wait to see where it takes me next.
Cool tidbit from the show — Justin Hurwitz explained that he doesn't make the trek to all cities for these shows, but Toronto was special, given he was in the city for the movie's run at TIFF way back in 2016. And we're very lucky to be welcoming him back to Toronto in a couple months for Whiplash in concert!
