Once again, as with Un Chien Andalou, I am confused. But I'm not complaining! You know what they say... "no one knows what it means, but it’s provocative". But I can actually tell who and what Buñuel and Salvador Dalí were going after here, namely Catholicism and the bourgeois, but their spoof on sexual repression and/or insane sexual desire (toe sucking in a film from 1930??) was certainly unexpected. But it's also pretty funny just to mock the classic film idea of romance in doing so.

Watched at the TIFF Lightbox, preceded by a screening of Un Chien Andalou, knocking out his two most known works from Buñuel's early French period for the retro.
