Feels good to check in with a solid genre film. It's self-aware about that though, taking no shame in wearing its influences on its sleeves. I mean, it's literally in the title, and also goes out of its way to mention Bullitt. It kinda breaks my scale of not using half-star ratings, just because it's the kind of movie I eat for breakfast, so I feel compelled to give it more than it deserves. But I will save the four star treatment for my preferred re-Heat in Den of Thieves. I will say though, I don't think enough people are comparing this to Michael Mann's very own Blackhat, mainly because we've got Chris Hemsworth doing that moody thing again here. But here we also have Barry Keoghan proving he's still a little freak. And Halle Berry shredding all her scenes. And Nick Nolte being old. It's gonna go crazy on airplane entertainment systems, and feels more like a summer movie, but I will definitely take it as February IMAX filler. There's a couple really cool shots where the LA skyline is flipped on its head, which would've looked even more sublime had it been presented in an expanded aspect ratio. But it's 2.39:1 the whole time. And lastly... I heard that Father John Misty needle drop!

Watched in IMAX at the Yonge-Dundas Cineplex. It's competing for screens with Wuthering Heights, which I will lay eyes on for myself soon enough. But it seems like the premium dual laser setups are prioritizing Wuthering Heights, so I had to settle for Yonge-Dundas again.
