Mesmerizing and deeply personal. The way it weaves together the past and present is genius. And it's gorgeous. A true showcase of the beauty of Vancouver Island. I echo what I said about Mile End Kicks — we are having a moment in Canadian film!

Watched at the Varsity Cineplex, with director Sophy Romvari in attendance afterwards for a Q&A, moderated by the one and only David Cronenberg! She shared that she felt she put all her eggs in one basket with this one, in that she piled in all her influences and managed to touch on a lot of what she has to say as an artist. And in doing so, that her next step as a filmmaker isn't quite so obvious. I have noticed that myself in music quite a bit, not as much in film, but it totally makes sense. Really interesting to hear an artist put that to words. Also fascinating to hear them both share their preference to shoot their films digitally.
