Self-aware '80s cheese. It's almost hard to remember it's a John Carpenter movie, but then he'll drop in some awesomely grotesque creature for a few minutes like it's no big deal. There's a hell of a lot going on here, overwhelmingly so at times, but there's no denying it has a ton of character.

Watched at the Bytowne in Ottawa. First time back there in a hot minute.
